The Peterbilt Model 579 was first introduced in 2012 as Peterbilt’s aerodynamically optimized wide-cab highway tractor, replacing or evolving from earlier lines like the 587.

In 2021 there was a major redesign (“New 579”) focusing on aerodynamics, comfort, tech upgrades, and a quieter cab.

Over its life it has continued to get incremental updates in safety systems, driver comfort, engine/ transmission options, etc.
